One of the many Escanaba points of interest include the Sand Point Lighthouse. This hard working lighthouse protected ships from the sand reef bordering the Bay and was constructed in 1867. It has been restored to its original appearance and the building and grounds are on the National Register of Historic Places with tours available during the summer.
